PEMBROKE, Ontario—FYidoctors, the optometrist-owned eyecare company operating in Canada, announced this week that it has taken its first step toward expanding into Pembroke, Ontario. The practice of Dr. Vernon Prentice, OD, and his staff have officially joining the FYidoctors organization, according to the announcement. This acquisition marks the third for FYidoctors in Ontario within the last two months, the announcement noted. “FYidoctors has shown me that after the 37 years I've spent in practice, it is possible to operate at the highest level of care without the mental overhead private practice constantly demands,” Dr. Prentice said in the announcement.

With this transaction, FYidoctors has a total of 198 locations (including the Visique banner in Quebec), and the number is expected to increase further in July, a spokesman told VMAIL.

“My staffs’ efforts to provide our patients with a positive experience when visiting us for eyecare services is perfectly aligned with the internal culture of FYidoctors and is reflected by the recognition they receive for those ‘bend over backwards’ moments.”

Dr. Prentice, a second-generation optometrist, and his staff remain committed to providing excellence in vision testing, eye health examinations and eyewear products, the announcement noted. Additionally, patients and customers now have the ability to create custom glasses through FYidoctors’ ophthalmic laboratory in Delta, British Columbia, and have access to a wide selection of frames and designers exclusively offered by FYidoctors, according to the announcement.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Prentice and his staff into the FYidoctors’ family and to be bannering our first location in Pembroke,” FYidoctors chairman and chief executive officer Dr. Alan Ulsifer said. “It brings us great pride to be given the opportunity to serve a new market and demonstrate our commitment to the eye heath of its residents.”
