Each week, Coresight Research asks consumers what they have done in the past two weeks. In its latest weekly U.S. consumer survey, undertaken on September 29, 2020, Coresight found that the proportion of respondents that had dined in a restaurant in the past two weeks rise to a new high this week. Some 36 percent had dined in a restaurant, despite the rise in avoidance of food-service locations. In line with more consumers dining in restaurants, the proportion that had bought groceries online in the past two weeks dropped to the lowest level since Coresight started asking this question, at 24 percent.

Avoidance of any public place dropped after increasing last week: Three-quarters of respondents are currently avoiding any public place, down seven percentage points from 82 percent last week. Some 56 percent are currently avoiding shopping malls/centers, and 46 percent are avoiding shops in general.
