A new data analysis of Delta variant coronavirus cases in the U.S. has found that 20 counties are “Delta danger zones.”

Surgo Ventures, a nonprofit organization, released results from its analysis relating to the Delta variant, which now makes up 83 percent of new cases in the U.S. The data shows a link between rising COVID-19 cases and vulnerable U.S. counties with low vaccination rates, with 20 counties being hardest-hit.

These vulnerable counties are in seven states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas. The analysis looked at the percentage of the county population fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the average number of new COVID-19 cases per day per 100,000 people in the past week.
