Eye Didn't Know That!

By CLICK Staff

It’s still the beginning of the new school year for millions of children, parents and teachers around the country. Eye Didn't Know That! was created to help people of all ages learn more about healthy vision. The program was developed by a team that includes eyecare professionals, science and education experts, and Transitions Optical, Inc. The Eye Didn’t Know That! website offers materials for children, parents, teachers and eyecare professionals to use to teach and learn more about eyecare basics and the importance of eye health and regular comprehensive eye exams. The information includes fact sheets, games, quizzes, lesson plans and free downloadable materials. Since the start of the Transitions and VSP Vision Care partnership in 2009, Eyenstein, a mobile eyecare clinic has brought healthy sight to hundreds of children nationwide, and still counting. Transitions also partners with Bess the Book Bus to visit schools, shelters, and after-school programs across the country to discuss the importance of healthy sight, distribute children’s books and host readings for children in need. Transitions Optical teams up with MORE Health to visit schools across the country and facilitate hands-on lessons and demonstrations. Hoya Vision Care is also a sponsor of the MyEyePromise. Visitors can show their support by simply clicking on this "Submit Your Promise" link and fill out the form, which are due by Nov. 1st. For each new promise submitted in 2012, Transitions Optical will donate a brand new book to the Bess the Book Bus mobile literacy initiative. Schools can make the promise, too, by clicking on the "School Challenge" link and follow the directions to enter their school/students to be eligible to win free vision evaluations and eyeglasses.
