NEW YORK—The Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit is deepening its focus on consumer trends and behavior as experts in retailing, health care and branding join the day-long program. The live exclusive event, titled, “Decoding the Consumer: The New Science of Customer Behavior,” will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Times Center here, just prior to Vision Expo East. Six new speakers have been added to the Summit program. Dave Bovenschulte is vice president, strategy for Klick Health. He helps health care brands navigate the ever-evolving world of marketing communications and services for health care professionals and patients.

Bovenschulte is passionate about voice tech innovation and exploring new modalities for human-machine interaction. His areas of therapeutic expertise include metabolic disease, respiratory, neurology, ophthalmology, oncology, cardiology, and digital medicine. With over 25 years of experience, Bovenschulte specializes in developing omni-channel, integrated marketing strategies and digital brand experiences that fuse data-driven insights with creativity. Prior to working in health, he worked in the media, entertainment, publishing, electronics, retail, automotive, finance, fashion, education, and CPG industries.

Amy Heymans (Cueva) is founder and chief experience officer at Mad*Pow, an award-winning strategic design consultancy. She plays an essential role in Mad*Pow’s visualization of a changed health care system in the U.S. Her work with organizations like Dartmouth Hitchcock, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and CVS has helped them improve the customer experience, leverage design to drive change, and facilitate human-centric innovation. As the chief instigator behind Mad*Pow’s Healthcare Experience Design Conference, HxD and the managing director of the Center for Health Experience Design Heymans has successfully connected and networked disparate parts of a challenging and siloed system.



Karl Haller leads IBM’s Consumer Industry Center of Competency, where he works with retailers and consumer goods companies worldwide to digitally reinvent their businesses and operationalize the use of advanced capabilities across their enterprise. Haller has 25 years of experience in retail, fashion, and consumer goods, and has served in executive positions in strategy, customer engagement and marketing at Brooks Brothers, Tommy Hilfiger, The Limited, and Doner Advertising. Haller began his career in the strategy consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Earlier this month, David Hoodis joined Mood Media as CEO, following three years as president of IRI America’s Retail practice. Mood Media is one of the world’s leading in-store media solutions companies dedicated to elevating the Customer Experience. His background also includes roles as VP of software strategy and innovation at NCR, CEO and co-founder of Snack Box, president and COO of Modell’s Sporting Goods, and VP of innovation and operations at Wal-Mart.

Nevin Raj is the co-founder and COO of Grata Data, a fast-growing investment intelligence platform. The world’s leading investors, strategists, and executives use Grata Data to find and analyze companies from online data. Raj and Grata Data have spoken about the future of big data and AI at SXSW, Harvard, and MIT. Prior to starting Grata Data, Nevin was a private equity investor in Boston and management consultant at McKinsey & Co.

John Ryan is general manager of UnitedHealthcare Vision, a leading eye health company serving more than 19 million people enrolled in employer-sponsored, individual, private label and Medicare and Medicaid plans. He oversees the strategic development, growth, and overall accountability for UnitedHealthcare Vision, leading a team of hundreds of employees across the country and helping develop a national, differentiated network with more than 100,000 access points.

Ryan has more than 25 years of health care and benefits consulting experience spanning sales, operations, business development, and relationship and network management. Prior to his current role, he served as senior vice president of client management at UnitedHealthcare, managing a team of more than 100 employees and overseeing customer satisfaction, retention and growth for large commercial and public sector employers.

Howard Purcell, OD, FAAO, president and CEO of the New England College of Optometry, will discuss how attendees can implement the new ideas they learn at the Summit. He’ll be joined by a panel of eyecare professionals and optical retailers.
