NEW YORK—You know what they say: if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. But what about making it all across New York? For Luxeye Optical, a New York-based eyewear boutique dedicated to luxury and independent brands, New York City is the horizon. With locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, Luxeye has been a New York staple since it first opened its doors in 2009. Brother and sister team Jacky and Jenny Ma are the brains behind the operation, and together they run four locations: one in North Williamsburg, Brooklyn (the first to open), one in Manhattan’s Gramercy neighborhood, another in Manhattan’s Chinatown, and their newest location in Little Neck, Queens. With a presence in three out of New York’s five boroughs, Luxeye is quickly becoming a New York City staple—while staying loyal to its mission of bringing high quality, independent eyewear to its patients and community.

As New York City slowly reopens its doors, Luxeye’s Queens location is doing the same. The shop officially opened on August 23, and although a typical grand opening party was out of the question, the team still managed to celebrate safely and effectively. Instead of a large gathering, Luxeye hosted a series of promotions and giveaways online, mostly through its Instagram account, offering gift cards and special online discounts.

Like all other locations, Luxeye’s Queens space is following New York’s COVID-19 protocols, requiring masks, limiting store capacity and frequently cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and frames. Announcing the opening on Instagram, the Luxeye team said, “A special thank you to everyone who has helped to make this dream come true. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for your continuous love and support.”

Luxeye’s new location is more than just a one-off success story—it’s a reminder for all of us that all hope is not lost, that, even now, our world can grow and expand, and that we can make our dreams continue to come true.
