BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—My Eyelab, an optical retailer and franchisor, will open its newest locations in Birmingham later this month and in late June, with another third location to follow later in 2022, according to the company’s announcement this week. My Eyelab is a retail brand of Now Optics, which also includes Stanton Optical. My Eyelab is among the leaders in the optical industry in ocular telehealth, which it has been able to achieve by leveraging “proprietary innovative telehealth technology to provide patients with affordable eye exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses,” the announcement noted.

Franchise owners Zain Attawala and Sagar Panjawani said they are optimistic about the expansion in the southeastern state. "Moving into the Birmingham area with these three new locations gives us a lot of opportunity for growth and to capitalize on the optical market here," Attawala said.

The new locations are along Montgomery Highway in the Riverchase area and at the Cahaba Market.

Now Optics continues to expand its retail footprint, and now operates over 250 corporate and franchise locations in 28 states.

The group, under the leadership of founder and chief executive officer Daniel Stanton, utilizes its network of affiliated doctors to conduct telehealth eye exams, and has conducted over 2 million telehealth exams to date. The company also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has not hindered its success, as its proprietary telehealth technology minimizes risk.

By combining the industry-leading telehealth technology and various monthly payment options through third-party vendors, My Eyelab noted that it is positioned to deliver on the promise of “modernizing the eyecare experience for all that's more affordable and accessible than ever before.”
