MILAN—EssilorLuxottica (Reuters: ESLX.PA) has announced that two of its recent debuts, Ray-Ban Stories and Sphere by Starck Biotech Paris, have been awarded in the product design category for the 2022 edition of the Red Dot Design Awards. Ray-Ban Stories won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award, the competition’s highest award which is reserved for products with “groundbreaking design,” the company said in an announcement. The Ray-Ban Stories are a result of Ray-Ban’s collaboration with Meta, and include a dual integrated 5MP camera to take photo and video, discreet open-ear speakers and a three-microphone audio array to deliver rich voice and sound transmission for calls and videos.

The glasses can be connected to Facebook View app, which enables users to import and edit content captured on their smart glasses and share on any social media app.

Sphere by Starck Biotech Paris was awarded the Red Dot award for outstanding design quality. The Sphere hinge is a minimalist hinge without screws or welding, offering freedom of movement and lightness, with each frame weighing less than 15 grams. The Sphere is made of a 0.07g single ball of stainless steel inserted into an injected front in the brand’s exclusive Gravity Eco material, and is also paired with a 0.08mm titanium temple.
