NEW YORK—On June 27, thousands of Twitter users had one thing in common—they were all Tweeting about #NationalSunglassesDay. The hashtag, created by The Vision Council to celebrate National Sunglasses Day, trended on Twitter throughout the day, while celebrities, media outlets, members of the optical community, and people all around the world got involved with the action. This year, celebrities and big name media organizations including Salma Hayek, Kathie Lee Gifford, The Ellen Show, Bethenny Frankel, as well as other sources such as the U.S. Secret Service took to social media to share a #SunglassSelfie or use the hashtag #NationalSunglassesDay.

In addition, celebrity stylist and TV personality Brad Goreski hosted a series of interviews to share National Sunglasses Day messaging to consumers, which resulted in about 23 live and live-to-tape TV and radio interviews, The Vision Council said. In addition, information about National Sunglasses Day appeared in publications such as golfdigest.com, yahoo.com, parade.com, elitedaily.com and hollywoodlife.com.
