MCDONOUGH, Ga.—Luxottica plans to substantially increase the size of its main North American manufacturing and distribution operation, located here. “Luxottica has proudly expanded its footprint in Atlanta over the past few years, tripling in size to better serve its retail and wholesale customers across North America. In order to accommodate our growing logistics needs, we will be taking on a new additional 270,000 square foot space next door to our current facility. This will provide much-needed room for everything from frame stock to point of purchase materials and more,” a company spokesperson told VMail.

Luxottica has not announced a timetable for the start and completion of the project.

Luxottica currently operates a 700,000-square foot facility on an adjacent site that services retail, wholesale, e-commerce and managed vision care customers. The high tech, multichannel facility, which began operations in 2017, features a full-service prescription lab.

A 225,000 square foot distribution center that ships frames and sunwear to Luxottica Retail customers and handles after-sales functions is also located on the campus. Taken together, the two facilities comprise Luxottica’s Atlanta Service Center (ASC), which serves as the North American headquarters for Luxottica’s planning, logistics, distribution and manufacturing. It is Luxottica's largest campus outside of Italy and China, and the first of its kind in the U.S.

The company also operates a warehouse in Dallas and a prescription lab in Columbus, Ohio.
