LEWISVILLE, Texas—Hoya Vision Care announced plans to invest more than $25 million in its Ramsey, Minnesota facility. The investment in facility and equipment signals a major expansion of Hoya’s U.S. lab network, which consists of 30 labs located throughout the country. “This state-of-the-art Ramsey, MN facility includes a full-service Rx laboratory and a world class Advanced Technology Center (ATC) for research and development which will continue to drive technology and innovation for our customers and their patients,” said Jason White, chief financial officer and interim CEO, Americas.

“Our mission is to provide ECPs the technology and service they need to optimize the eyecare they provide to their patients so that they may fulfill their life’s vision. We only succeed when our customers succeed, and we must continue to expand our capacity to develop and deliver products and services to support our current and future ECP customers.”

According to Hoya, the new lab will occupy 70,000 square feet and have a capacity to produce up to 4,000 Rx jobs per day. One hundred new employees will be hired. The lab will have the latest digital automated lens processing, full AR coating capability, advanced safety Rx capabilities and will offer staff and customer training. As part of the expansion in Ramsey, Hoya has made an additional investment in its Safety Rx division. “The Safety Rx business is trending towards digital Rx design and AR coatings,” the company said in an announcement. “In order to meet the needs of our safety customers, Hoya is adding modern equipment and additional staffing into our laboratory network.”
