LYON, France—Serengeti Eyewear has announced it is moving all manufacturing to Italy. The U.S. eyewear brand currently manufactures some but not all of its collection in Italy, but will move all lens and frame production to Italy by Spring 2022. The move comes as Serengeti introduces more styles to the Creator Collection, its higher priced luxury collection. Serengeti has also made a commitment to using more sustainable materials, including a new bio-acetate material for its Mainline collection.

The first collections after Serengeti’s full move to Italy will be Serengeti Sport and the Luxury Line for Spring and Summer 2022. The sport collection will introduce a new eco-nylon frame material made rom a polymer called Grilamid BTR, a sustainable substitute for TR90. It is extracted from castor plants and offers the same characteristics as TR90.

Arnaud Falce, Serengeti creative director, said, “This move is really exciting because it puts us at the heart of where a lot of our inspiration comes from. Italy really is an international fashion capital. Everything that we create at Serengeti Eyewear revolves around design, quality, and comfort, and the new sunglasses are really strong and sleek—exactly what you’d expect to see in Italy. Our goal has always been to redefine the market standard. We are proud to call Italy our new manufacturing home and continue to build off of the rich fashion and design history of both Serengeti and Italy.”
