Schneider Debuts All-in-One Digital Surfacing Center

Close Up: Schneider has combined a generator, polisher, laser marker and measuring unit to create an entire digital surfacing lab in one compact system. The modules are based on time-tested technologies of Schneider’s stand-alone counterparts: the state-of-the-art HSC sprint, CCP swift and CCL C*mark, all in a five-foot by three-foot package. The full integration of lab management and the lens-design software make the DSC Prolab a self-sufficient surfacing center. “The DSC Prolab is the first all-in-one digital surfacing center. It opens the door to new markets with its compact size and simplified operation,” said Kurt Atchison, president of Schneider Optical Machines Inc.
Vital Stats: 61" wide by 36" deep. Up to 18D range (expanded over current systems around 14D). Processes all materials—standard plastic, high-index, polycarbonate and Trivex—with no cutter changes. Generator module goes automatically to laser module. Operator moves it to polish module. Integrated wash station included. On board LMS works as standalone, complete system for integration and FF calculation or in conjunction with existing LMS if already in place. Integrated automatic calibration and lens verification system assures uptime, automatic adjustment as well as in process lens verification for design integrity. Capable of full standard toric production and FF lens production. Single control system is icon driven for ease of use and one controller in charge of all processes in the machine. Can use any standard V Groove blocking system.

Davis Vision Launches New Website and Social Media Pages

Davis Vision has launched its new commercial website and mobile site with updated features and a new look to reflect the company’s branding strategy and create an enhanced experience for both members and clients.
Top Line: The site now includes new content and photography along with more user-friendly features like improved navigation and a contact page. “Links to three new videos offer a better understanding of Davis Vision, an overview of open enrollment and the state-of-the-art ophthalmic laboratories and a detailed history of the company,” the company said. The site includes an explanation of laser vision correction. A new toolkit allows clients to choose from a library of open enrollment materials, customizing the most appropriate for their employees. A separate portal enables brokers to download relevant materials and obtain information regarding the latest products and services. New vision articles in the site's vision wellness library also have an updated format with categories now including: "See Clearly," "See Clearly Kids" and "See Safely."
Close Up: Davis Vision's community outreach is spotlighted in the Focus on America section. The community relations Facebook page is also included in this launch and the company has said that for every fan and "like" the page receives, one dollar will be donated to the Prevent Blindness Star Pupils program, up to $1,000.
Vital Stats: Davis Vision added that the site’s next phase is to focus on a redesigned member portal. In addition to access to forms, members will be able to view all 222 frames on the Davis Vision tower photographed and stylized, with information about the latest brands and fashion frames. The new and improved member portal is set to launch in September.
