Colors in Optics Launches the Lights Collection

More Images
Quick Take: Colors in Optics, Ltd. (CIO) has unveiled the Lights by Colors In Optics collection.
Wearer: In response to consumer desires for a lightweight and comfortable frame, the Lights by Colors In Optics collection offers new ophthalmic frames for men and women.
Specifics: Advanced “technology…allows us to capture a stylized, chunky frame look, in acetate, without the weight,” said Hutton. “We’ve taken the best of some of our most popular classic looks…and charged them up with rich hues and light-reflecting colors, such as aqua, cherry, electric pink, neon green and more.”
Selling Points: Designed by Jade Hutton, Lights is the latest sub-collection of the Color in Optics Original Collection that blends CIO’s signature retro styles and colors with twenty-first century technology. In doing so, they have produced strong, durable frames that are lightweight and thin. According to the company, the collection also features details synonymous with the CIO brand, such as double pin heads and rounded tip shapes with the CIO logo. Inspired by the roots of CIO’s founder, each new style is named after one of Brooklyn’s neighborhoods, like Midwood, Canarsie and Bedford. “New York and its boroughs are in the DNA of Colors In Optics, Ltd. so it’s fun to identify our frames with local hot spots,” said Hutton.

Match Launches New Helium Men’s Styles

The new Helium Men’s collection from Match Eyewear consists of eight styles in metal and acetate, all expressing the signature attributes of “sprezzatura,” commonly defined as “a certain nonchalance, so as to make whatever one does or create appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it.” Distinguished by masterful Italian craftsmanship with simple classic details and refined designs elements, the Helium Men’s collection only features 100 percent made in Italy of Mazzucchelli acetate and the finest quality componentry. The new styles include the 4274, a metal frame in a multi-dimensional woven pattern resembling the grain of a fine tweed fabric; this same woven pattern is realized in acetate style 4285, a bold matte acetate. The 4271 is a super thin flat metal front with architectural structured temples in marbled acetate; while the 4269 is a classic Clubmaster refined and re-styled as an optical in marbled acetate. www.matcheyewear.com

Mykita and Damir Doma Unveil the Bradfield

Modern handcraft, historical shapes and an illusory construction all come together in the newest model from the Mykita and Damir Doma collection, the Bradfield. The Bradfield appears to consist of two frames but a closer look the complex construction reveals the effect as a trompe l’oeil: the outer frame, a classic panto shape from only 0.5 mm stainless steel is paired with perfectly round rims. Inspired by the pince-nez from the early 20th Century, the circular lenses appear to float before the frame-front. The trompe l’oeil aesthetic is accentuated by the visual reference to clip-on sunglasses from the 1980s. The frame front is made from one flat piece, which is folded in half in multiple steps by hand, gradually brought into shape and secured inside the outer frame with the help of two flaps. www.mykita.com
