Signature Eyewear Launches Rough Justice Eyewear

Specifics: According to the Michael Prince, CEO of Signature, the Rough Justice eyewear collection delivers “a funky, fashionable, stand-out product that still incorporates technological features and benefits to customers at a reasonable price.”
Selling Points: The Rough Justice eyewear line is inspired by the footwear collection of the same name as part of the Signature Fashion Group. Signature will continue to cultivate the brand into a full lifestyle collection, beginning with footwear and now adding an optical and sunglasses line. The optical and sunwear collection features eye-catching styles in wild designs and vibrant colors. Some frames include recycled plastics while others feature hand-painted animal prints and harlequin patterns. Sparkly laminates and bold laser-carved accents give the collection a fashion-wise, edgy feel.

Viva Debuts New Skechers Optical Styles
Quick Take: Viva International Group has introduced the Skechers Eyewear Fall 2011 collection.
Specifics: Four new women’s ophthalmic styles that feature a dynamic fusion of trendy patterns and explosive color combinations.
Selling Points: Highlights of the new styles include pyramid stud detailing and high-definition graphics. A graffiti pattern of the words “Peace,” “Love” and “SKECHERS” decorates the temples of SK 2031 and SK 2032 using a high-definition application technique, while a pyramid-studded metal plaque completes the temples. A multi-colored graphic print details the temples of two thin profile models, the SK 2037 and SK 2038. Each temple is crafted out of TR-90 plastic and features the brand’s iconic “S” logo plaque, complimented by metal fronts in a variety of satin finishes, including brown, fuchsia, plum, teal and periwinkle.

Oakley Adds Women’s Rx Styles for Fall
Quick Take: Oakley has added new styles to their women’s Rx collection for fall.
Specifics: Four new optical styles and new colorways for the Entranced frame.
Selling Points: The Diligent is a full rim monoblock design sculpted from titanium. Thick temples with contrasting color detail and acetate temple tips make a cool design statement while delivering comfort with spring hinges and adjustable nose pads. The Irreverent is a faux semi-rimless style in a large cat-eye shape. Constructed of lightweight, stress-resistant acetate, these durable frames feature a layer cutout at the hinge to add a pop of contrast. The Premonition is a thick rectangular frame sculpted form stress-resistant acetate while at the temple, a metallic “O” buckle adds contrast. The Speculate features a brushed aluminum front and polished C5 temples, creating a beautiful complement of color and texture. Oliver Peoples Unveils Takahiro Miyashita Collaboration
Quick Take: Oliver Peoples has bowed their latest collaboration series with emerging fashion label TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst., by Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita.
Specifics: Two unisex styles, one optical and one sunglass, to be released in the Resort/Spring 2012 Collection.
Selling Points: TheSoloIst. mainline collection is recognized for artistic tailoring of layers, contrasting materials, and distinctive aged effects. These elements, combined with Oliver Peoples’ vintage aesthetic, have resulted in a collaboration of two unisex styles, The SoloIst.-Round and The SoloIst.-Teardrop, constructed under a “salvage” philosophy. When possible, stock parts from vintage eyewear were incorporated into the design; when original parts could not be located, classical techniques with the original tooling was used. The finished product is a masterpiece of old and new – vintage and vintage-inspired. The two frames are complimentary double-bridge designs, featuring contrasting colors and finishes of the handmade acetate top-bar and temples paired with antiqued metal, including brushed silver, pewter, and a new variegated blend of antique gold and silver. The optical features a rounded P3 lens shape and is available in three color combinations. The sunglass is a teardrop metal aviator offered in four colors paired with high quality polarized glass lenses.

Liberty Sport’s Autofit Features Unique Nose Bridge Design
Quick Take: Liberty Sport’s Autofit nose bridge design allows one frame bridge to automatically customize to each individual wearer’s bridge shape.
Specifics: The first of the 2011 Sun Performance styles to utilize this technology is the Liberty Sport Chaser. The Chaser is a general/cycling frame that is Rx’able and also features a pierced eyewire design, allowing for additional airflow. Eight-base premium sun lenses and a raised eye rim backlip provide additional lens retention. The Chaser is available in five colors: shiny white, shiny black, shiny gunmetal, olive and tortoise; the shiny black and tortoise are also available with polarized lenses. Liberty Sport will be launching other sun performance styles throughout 2012 utilizing Autofit technology.
Selling Points: Each sunglass wearer’s nose bridge is unique and can vary in size and width. This difference can make sunglasses designed for an average bridge either uncomfortably tight or so loose that the sunglass does not sit correctly on the wearer’s face. The Liberty Sport Autofit nose bridge design accommodates this variance by allowing one frame bridge to automatically customize to each individual wearer’s bridge shape The dual channel nosepad design helps to increase airflow and prevent moisture buildup on the inside of the lens.

Safilo's Tommy Hilfiger Sun, with Interchangeable Magnets
Safilo’s Tommy Hilfiger has introduced a new sunglass model featuring interchangeable magnetic temple parts for five different looks in one. The TH 1090/S unisex model features an injected resin frame with a geometric ‘80s shape and offers temples with the iconic Tommy Hilfiger flag, which serves as a magnetic base, and comes with four stylized magnets- a flamingo, a skull, a coat of arms and a miniature pair of sunglasses.
Cartier Introduces Panthère de Cartier Optical Collection
Cartier has introduced the new Panthère de Cartier optical collection. The collection offers four three-piece mount options in two different combinations of precious metals, characterized by the house’s stylized panther motif on the endpieces. Combinations include 18K yellow solid gold with a white gold strip and tortoiseshell acetate temple tips and 18k white solid gold with a rose gold strip and black acetate temple tips, both come in an oval or rectangle shape.
Charmant Expands Ad Lib Collection
Charmant has expanded its Ad Lib collection for A/W 2011 with five new styles. The extended collection consist of three women’s and two men’s styles. These distinctive styles offer a unique hinge system made of Excellence Titan material, Charmant’s proprietary new material. The hinge provides flexibility and great wearing comfort in addition to being a visual design accent.
