As summer calendars creep toward August, thoughts of last-chance family vacations and barbecues and back-to-school shopping quickly become foremost in our minds. Once the long beach days end, the focus may quickly turn to getting the kids ready for back-to-school. Shopping for the best outfit for their first day in the classroom, making sure they have all the basic supplies they need are all on most parents’ checklists. National Vision Announces Walmart Partnership Is Ending in 2024

DULUTH, Ga.—National Vision Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: EYE) announced that its partnership with Walmart Inc. will be ending in 2024. This includes supplying and operating Vision Centers in select Walmart stores, providing contact lens distribution and related services to Walmart and its affiliate, and arranging for the provision of optometric services at certain Walmart locations in California. “We value and appreciate the contributions that our partnership with Walmart has had in helping us grow National Vision over the past three decades," said Reade Fahs CEO of National Vision.

What Do Indies Need to Know About Threads?

NEW YORK—Earlier this month, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, officially launched Threads, its brand new Twitter competitor. Threads is designed to look and operate similarly to Twitter, with a feed of mostly text posts that other users can reply to or repost. Users can also attach images and videos to their Threads posts, and the posts themselves have a 500 character limit. In its first week, CNN reported, Threads received 100 million signups, with many celebrities and other public figures migrating over to the new platform. So what does the optical community need to know about Threads? Should ECPs be rushing to sign up?
