It seems only fitting that after celebrating Earth Day last month, VM tackled the subject of sustainability in the optical industry in our May Cover Story titled "Sustainability Takes Root." Nominations for 2023 have been coming in over the past several weeks and the deadline for submissions has been extended until 11:59 p.m., ET, on May 24. Readers are being asked to recall when they were facing a critical challenge, in 2022 and into this year, and to salute the business partner who showed up at the right moment to reshape that problem into an opportunity or name which supplier, or representative, came to the rescue with valuable new solutions.

Are You a Candidate for America’s Top Small Business Awards?

WASHINGTON D.C.—Could your small business help inspire others? Want to get recognized for the small business you’re building? Applications are now open for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s America’s Top Small Business 2023 Awards. This year’s awards will recognize the contributions of small business to America. The deadline for submissions is July 8. And the Chamber says it is looking for examples of “Ingenuity. Grit. Perseverance.” Rules are posted online, but to enter, applicants must be legal residents of the U.S., they must be a for-profit business operating for at least one year, primarily within the U.S., the business has to have fewer than 250 employees or gross revenue or less than $20 million for both 2021 and 2022.
