NEW YORK—Building upon the increased importance of social media in the industry and their own active social media following, Vision Monday, part of Jobson Medical Information, has introduced a reader commenting function on all stories that appear on VisionMonday.com. The commenting function, made possible through a Facebook Social Plug-in, allows readers to comment on all content that appears on the site, as well as share the comment on their own Facebook News Feed.

VM’s coverage of news, trends and topics impacting the vision care and optical retail community is critical in helping our influential readers make the best and most informed decisions about their business every day,” said Marge Axelrad, senior vice president and editorial director of Jobson. “We see that ‘community’ growing through active interaction and so we’re very excited about introducing a simple and dynamic way for readers to tell us what they think as news develops. VM’s social media presence, via Facebook Likes and Twitter followers, has grown substantially and we see VisionMonday.com’s new integrated Facebook comments as a way of further strengthening our bond with our readers.”

“Real time audience engagement is one of the huge advantages of social media,” added Deirdre Carroll, Vision Monday’s senior editor and social media coordinator. “For a news publication like Vision Monday to be able to interact immediately with readers as a story is posted gives us the opportunity to understand what news our readers find impactful and compelling. Additionally, the Facebook integration not only enables our readers to share their reaction to news among their own social media followings as it happens, but helps VM proliferate the stories most affecting the industry.”

The commenting function, found at the bottom of each story, can be used by any visitor to VisionMonday.com with a Facebook account.
