MARIETTA, Ga.— Conant Lens is introducing UV++, a lens that blocks shorter wavelength light. Exposure to this spectrum of blue light, which is emitted from digital devices, can cause eye strain, blurred vision, dry eyes and retinal damage.

UV++ lenses are made from an in-monomer material that blocks harmful blue and ultraviolet light. Since the material itself blocks blue light, the lens retains the property as long as it is in use. The lenses let the healthier blue-turquoise light in, which helps in proper color perception, good attention levels and wakefulness.

“Positioning this product is easy and practical,” noted Chris Landers, director of sales, North America, for Conant Lens Inc. “UV++ in-monomer technology allows a seamless solution offering full UV 400 protection as well as a reduction in short wavelength light transmission, specifically 400 to 420 nm. And, compared to many blue blocking lenses that have an obvious tint or coating, UV++ is virtually clear.”

UV++ lenses are available in finished single-vision with Crystalux super hydrophobic AR, and in semi-finished single vision. Materials include Hi-Vex, 1.60 MR-95, 1.67 MR-10.
