Although only 3.5 percent of eyewear is purchased online today, nearly 40 percent of consumers reportedly search the web for information prior to visiting an eyecare practitioner. To meet that demand, Essilor of America is launching a mobile app for consumers, AskAboutEyes.

As recently announced by Essilor, the new mobile application will address the rising demand for eyecare information among consumers by directing them to timely and reliable content in partnership with AllAboutVision.com.

According to Essilor, the AskAboutEyes app will:

  • Provide trusted and credible information on vision and vision correction to consumers
  • Allow consumers to send individual questions and photographs to eyecare professionals and receive personalized guidance prior to making an appointment
  • Drive users to ECP offices for in-person eye exams through a doctor locator live link
  • Provide financial compensation to practitioners based on time spent answering patient questions on the app

The AskAboutEyes app is expected to launch later this year and will be available for free download in the App Store and on Google Play. More information is available here.
