Amy Hatch, editor of the-future-of-commerce.com, has a question for business owners: “Are you ready to wake up? Because the future of commerce is happening right now.”

The Future of Commerce, a resource for relevant and timely information and analysis on commerce topics, recently published an attractive and informative infographic for consumers and businesses: “Wake Up to the Future of Commerce.” In a similarly titled blog post, Hatch offers facts from Gallup’s “State of the American Consumer” report for 2014, part of a study of American consumers that began in 2008.

Emphasizing the importance of customer engagement, Hatch highlighted some staggering facts from the study: companies that engage both consumers and employees see a 240 percent boost in performance related outcomes; fully engaged shoppers in the consumer electronics industry spend an average of $373 per shopping trip, compared to an actively disengaged customer’s $289; and fully engaged hotel guests spend 46 percent more annually than those who are disengaged.

The study showed, Hatch concluded, that “Omnichannel matters: Consumers want to see the brand promise in every aspect of their shopping journey, from in-store, online or customer service, and that brand alignment predicts share of wallet.”

In her own iteration, the infographic boldly states the ways in which brands can expect to succeed with this seamless approach to customer engagement.
