ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Think About Your Eyes, a national public awareness campaign presented by presented by The Vision Council and the American Optometric Association, will partner with travel company Airstream in August to send a YouTube influencer family on a road trip though the Western United States. Airstream’s brand is “focused on a life well-lived through adventure, making them a natural tie-in for TAYE’s campaign, ‘Seeing is a Gift,’” according to the TAYE announcement.

The influencer family, The Daily Bumps, have a robust fan following (their near-daily videos chronicling their family’s life regularly receive more than 500,000 views) as well as a family history of vision correction, the announcement noted. To kick off the road trip, the whole family (mom Missy, dad Bryan, and kids Oliver and Finn) will get eye exams from an optometrist to ensure their vision is healthy, allowing them to enjoy and appreciate the sights of their vacation.

Throughout the trip and through the remainder of the year, the family will post regular content to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube tying in messaging around the importance of healthy vision in enjoying life’s moments both big and small, the impact vision has on safe driving, the need for UV protection for the whole family, the importance of playing outside to prevent myopia, and the overall importance of getting an annual eye exam.

TAYE said it will promote “the activation with national media, kicking off with a satellite media tour, a new survey around vision health, and outreach to national lifestyle, health, and travel outlets.”

Along the road trip route, TAYE also said it will utilize local optometrists for media opportunities in their respective areas, capitalizing on The Daily Bumps content and TAYE messaging.
