LONDON—Maui Jim Ambassadors and Australian Sailors, Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page are in the final competitive throes of the Olympics’ 470 races this week. Mathew and Malcolm wear Maui Jim’s Canoes sunglasses.

They are made from light and flexible Grilamid and feature Maui Evolution lenses that have the clear properties of super thin glass combined with the strength of polycarbonate lenses. Since the pair started competing together in August 2009, they moved from 43rd in the ISAF rankings to 1st place. They won the 2010 470 World Championship, and sewed up the 2010 and 2011 ISAF World Cup titles. They are the only team in all of the Olympic sailing class disciplines to amass such a record throughout the September 2009 – August 2011 period. With their win at the 2011 Delta Lloyd Regatta in Holland, the team qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games with the objective of bringing the gold medal back to Australia.

Also, Renee Groeneveld, Annemieke Bes and Marcelien Bos-de-Koning of Mach3, a champion women’s sailing team from the Netherlands, is competing in the Women’s Elliott 6m races. This team is a multi-medal winner at the World Championships, World Cup and Beijing Olympics. For sailing, they wear Makaha sunglasses from Maui Jim. For hanging out with friends and heading to dinner, they wear Maui Jim’s Dawn Patrol and Baby Beach.

German WTA tennis pro, Sabine Lisicki, is also a Maui Jim Ambassador. Seeded 15 going into the Olympics, she faced Maria Sharapova of Russia yesterday (August 1) in a dramatic third round match of skill and determination. Lisicki was on the brink of repeating her Wimbledon straight-sets defeat of Sharapova, but victory slipped through her fingers, falling in three sets to the Russian. Off the court, Lisicki dons Maui Jim’s MauiGradient sunglasses, called Lani, for their fashion-forward style. She also has a pair of Ho’Okipia, Light house and Kulas in her bag, a Maui Jim spokesperson said.
