Dr. Merwiak has been in the optical industry for about seven years. She started out as a summer student, helping out at Merivale Vision Care. “It was my time at the clinic as a student that made me decide to pursue optometry as a career. Today, I am a practicing optometrist.”

FRAMES / Francois Pinton Air 1 style in violet

LENSES / Standard 1.6 stock lenses

“I like these frames because they are simple, light and versatile. They can easily be worn with any outfit but the violet color gives them a subtle pop that makes them stand out.”

Crystal Symington

Crystal has been in the industry for over 15 years and has been at Merivale Vision Care for eight years. “I started working in the optical industry covering a maternity leave in pretest at my previous optometrist office in 2003 when I realized I have a deep passion for glasses and optics. In 2009, I completed the CCOA program to become certified.”

She owns 13 pairs of ophthalmic glasses and 16 pairs of polarized Rx sunwear.

FRAMES / Eco Avon by Modo in matte black

LENSES / Nikon Emblematic Progressive Personalized fit

“I love how light they are. I have the same frame in three different colors (blue, black and burgundy). I loved them that much! This company also plants a tree for every pair of frames sold.”

Jamie Lau, OD

Dr. Lau has been in the optical industry since she was a high school student. “I’ve always been fascinated with the eyes so I made it my personal goal to pursue optometry as a career.”

She owns eight pairs of glasses on rotation and four pairs of sunglasses (three non-Rx and one Rx).

FRAMES / Tom Ford model 5353 in the color 075

LENSES / 1.56 index plastic lenses

“I like that the frames are simple, classic and feminine. It is typically difficult for me to find well-fitting plastic frames, and these are perfect.”
