SCENE + HEARD: Parties 'Bright Lights Bling City': Sunglass Hut Struts in Times Square By Catherine Wolinski Tuesday, September 24, 2013 2:49 PM NEW YORK—Amid the usual glitz of Times Square, Sunglass Hut strutted its stuff during New York Fashion Week last month to celebrate the opening of its first store in the trafficked location. Titled “Bright Lights Bling City,” the event attracted Sunglass Hut and Luxottica brand execs, ambassadors and fans to the new location at 1540 Broadway here. Industry notables in attendance included John Haugh, president of Sunglass Hut, North America, Fabio D’Angelantonio, SunHut SVP, and Luxottica’s Holly Rush and Milena Cavicchioli. The store opening also highlighted Sunglass Hut’s Social Sun app, along with the store’s first-ever sunglass vending machine, Eye Candy, which allows shoppers to purchase sunglasses via touchscreen from outside the store. Red carpet attention shone on Georgia May Jagger, model and youngest daughter of Rolling Stones’ lead singer Mick Jagger, who is the global brand ambassador of Sunglass Hut. Jagger was joined by other young bombshells such as Theodora Richards, model and daughter of the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, and “Carrie Diaries” star Chloe Haynes. Inside the store, champagne glasses and acetate counters sparkled while Adam Levine/Maroon 5 prodigy Rozzi Crane sung energetic songs to fuel the excitement of the evening.
