The joys of motherhood were front and center last week as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aka Meghan and Harry, welcomed their own bundle of joy into the world. But this past Sunday, it wasn’t just the royals celebrating motherhood as millions of Americans paid homage to their moms on Mother’s Day. This modern holiday was first celebrated in 1908 by a woman in West Virginia named Anna Jarvis who wanted to honor her late mother, a peace activist during the Civil War.
