NEW YORK—Italian eyewear brand Italia Independent celebrated the opening of its first U.S. boutique here in SoHo last month.

Hosted by Lapo Elkann, Giovanni Acconciagioco and Andrea Tessitore, the opening featured a guest list that included Mickey Boardman, Leigh Lezark, Zang Toi and Stefano Tonchi. The fashion influencers and editors received customized sunglasses painted on-site by New York street artist Bradley Theodore, who is famous for his graffiti depicting Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld and Diana Vreeland as colorful skulls.

After the boutique opening, guests danced at the New Museum to DJ sets by The MisShapes and DJ Kitty Cash, and experienced a live painting by Theodore, inspired by Italia Independent.

The SoHo store is Italia Independent’s first American store, with two more boutiques opening later this year in Los Angeles and Miami. The new boutique is located at 85 Mercer Street.
