BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Zimco Optics, Inc. has named a new vice president of operations, Joseph Reek, who will oversee operations and customer service for the 40-year-old eyewear company.

Reek brings a unique background to Zimco. An Inspector and Commanding Officer with the New York Police Department (now retired), Reek has had a 30-year career with the department. Rising through the department ranks, Reek took on varied responsibilities over the years, Reek coordinated public safety and security tasks within the NYPD Housing Bureau, with other department units, NYC agencies and partners. At NYC Police headquarters Reek was executive assistant to the Bureau Chief with involvement in such activities as emergency management, special event planning and prog rams, all CCTV security systems, training and other activities.

In addition to specialized training and certifications, Reek is a graduate of the State University of New York’s Empire State College.
