Ben Peters.

BOULDER, Colo.—Zeal Optics has announced the appointment of its new global president, Ben Peters. Peters joins the brand from Maui Jim, parent company of Zeal Optics, where he has a long history of sales success in the outdoor eyewear business, the company said.

A spokesperson for the company said, “Ben is following a period of time in which we did not have an active global president. We’re excited to fill the roll and grow our team.”

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Ben Peters to the Zeal side of the business,” said Maui Jim and Zeal Optics owner Walter Hester. “Ben brings more than 15 years of optical experience with Maui Jim to Zeal and understands the importance of quality and customer service to build a brand and sales. He has hit the ground running—Zeal has already rolled out a new polarized and photochromic lens, the Automatic, which builds on Zeal's technological heritage on the goggle side. Combined with a corresponding sales contest, this has been an amazing summer for the brand and we look forward to seeing Ben take Zeal to the next level.”

“Zeal has a very unique situation in the sunglass market; we have a great product to sell and also a fantastic parent company that has taught us the value of producing quality products and the best customer service,” added Peters.

According to the company, Peters plans to leverage key accounts, leading manufacturers and pull from his years with Maui Jim to continue Zeal’s growth. As he points out, “we have received numerous awards from both the International and U.S. markets for our lens technology. We have already accomplished so much and are so young. The future is very bright for Zeal.”

Additionally, Peters intends to create new ways of reaching consumers through online channels to continue to expand Zeal’s reach and provide a customer-focused experience throughout the current infrastructure, said Zeal.
