LOS ANGELES— Warby Parker, the eyewear e-tailing brand continues adding brick-and-mortar locations in select markets across the U.S. with the addition of its first freestanding store on the West Coast. The new store, located at 1422 Abbot Kinney Boulevard in the Venice Beach region of Los Angeles, opened on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014. Named for the man who built the canals of Venice, Calif., this trendy street of eclectic boutiques, artisanal eateries, and influential art galleries, has been called “the coolest block in America” by GQ magazine.

The new store’s design features references to the region, such as midcentury furniture inspired by Frank Gehry and Charles and Ray Eames, who left their mark on the area. The bright blue façade was created by L.A. artist, Geoff McFetridge, whose work was also featured in Warby Parker’s space inside The Standard, Hollywood.

The new L.A. location joins Warby Parker stores in New York (three locations), Los Angeles, Boston, and Dallas, and showrooms located inside boutiques in Los Angeles (two locations), Miami, Chicago, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Nashville and Richmond, Va. The company is also in the process of opening a second corporate office in Nashville to augment its New York City corporate headquarters, as reported Sept. 5, 2014, by VMail.
