WEST JORDAN, Utah—TruHearing, which provides exclusive savings on hearing aids for members of select health plans, recognized VSP Vision Care, the nation’s largest not-for-profit vision benefits company, as one of its fastest growing partnerships in 2013. The two companies formed a partnership two years ago, as VMail reported whereby VSP members had access to hearing aids savings from TruHearing.

Recent research by Research Now, based on national average prices, estimates that VSP members accessing TruHearing’s product offerings saved an average of $1,780 per pair.

“This program makes hearing aids affordable to our 64 million members. Our clients appreciate that we offer it, and our members love the savings,” said Melody Healy, chief strategy and integration officer for VSP Vision Care. “We know that hearing aids are expensive and not typically covered by insurance, so we are proud to provide our members with access to this great value-add.”

Noting that hearing loss impacts nearly 38 million Americans, Tommy Macdonald, CEO of TruHearing said, “We greatly value our partnership with VSP. VSP members purchasing hearing aids through TruHearing more than doubled in 2013 compared to 2012. And we foresee continued growth with them as their membership base becomes more aware of the TruHearing program.”
