RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—Rob Lynch, CEO of VSP Global, has been named UCP of Sacramento and Northern California’s 21st Annual Humanitarian of the Year. He will be honored at a dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Sacramento on May 21.

The Humanitarian of the Year Award is given to individuals who have displayed a passion for life and a desire to work toward enhancing the lives of others, according to a statement from UCP, an organization whose programs empower people with developmental disabilities. The event is UCP’s largest fundraiser of the year.

“Rob Lynch has proven himself a leader, both in business and in our community,” said Doug Bergman, president and CEO, UCP of Sacramento and Northern California. “We are honored to name him the 2014 Humanitarian of the Year.”

Since joining VSP as president and CEO in 2006, Lynch has led the growth and global expansion of the company, resulting in a $4 billion multifaceted enterprise. VSP provides vision insurance and benefits administration throughout the U.S., in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia through VSP Vision Care, operates eight optical laboratories within the VSP Optics Group, provides e-commerce and practice management solutions to more than 29,000 doctors with Eyefinity and, with the acquisition of Marchon Eyewear in 2008, has a presence in more than 100 countries.
