AUSTIN, Texas— VisionWeb, a leading provider of cloud-based software and technology solutions to the eyecare industry, has appointed Ian Lane, OD, FAAO to the position of vice president of customer development and professional relations.

To his new role, Lane brings over 30 years experience in the eyecare industry, 12 years of which have been dedicated to advocating on behalf of independent optometrists in areas related to the development and deployment of practice management and EHR software. Since 2012, Lane has played a critical role in the development of Uprise, VisionWeb’s practice management and EHR solution.

With his guidance, VisionWeb said it was able to build a truly cloud-based solution that meets changing regulatory needs eyecare providers are facing, and features an intuitive workflow that guides users from scheduling to diagnosis to treatment to coding and billing in as few clicks possible. Lane was also instrumental in helping Uprise achieve complete certification for stage 2 of Meaningful Use.

In his new role, Lane will lead the teams responsible for providing Uprise users with a seamless, best-in-class customer experience from implementation of the software through the life of their account, VisionWeb said. Lane will continue to serve as an in-house subject matter expert on all aspects of practice management and EHR, ICD-10, ophthalmic instrumentation, and health care reform requirements. Lane will also represent and advocate on VisionWeb’s behalf within the eyecare community, and will manage key industry and third-party partner relations.

“We’re very excited to have Dr. Lane join VisionWeb in this newly created role. Ian is a recognized, respected, and experienced industry expert in the area of practice management,” said Ken Engelhart, president and CEO of VisionWeb. “His expertise has played a very important role in the development of Uprise, and now that Uprise is up and running in the marketplace, we look forward to his playing an active role in building our customer base and educating the optometric community on all the benefits Uprise provides an optometric practice.”

“I was thrilled to have the opportunity to help VisionWeb build Uprise and I’m even more excited to join them in this more extensive capacity,” said Lane. “Their expertise in cloud-based technology, and the fact that Uprise was built from the ground up, presented a unique opportunity to bring something to optometrists that truly met their needs. Now we can build on that to ensure that Uprise always meets health care reform requirements and enables my colleagues the option to easily participate in ACOs and PCMHs.”
