ORLANDO, Fla.—The American Academy of Optometry announced the recipients of their 2015 Student Travel Fellowship Awards. The travel fellowships, which are supported by an educational grant from The Vision Care Institute, allow five students to present their research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting in May 2015.

The 2015 Student Travel Fellowship Award winners are Stephanie Marie Marten-Ellis, University of Houston, College of Optometry; Jillian Meadows, OD, MS, FAAO, University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Optometry; Chau-Minh Phan, MSc, University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science; Srilatha Vantipalli, BS in Optometry, University of Houston, College of Optometry and Hendrik Walther, MSc, University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science.

The American Academy of Optometry honors students with travel fellowships to promote their attendance at key national meetings and encourage the exchange of scientific ideas on research among optometry students, optometric residents and students in eye and vision related graduate programs. Recipients are chosen primarily for their accomplishments and potential in optometric research and education. Candidates are evaluated by the American Academy of Optometry’s Research Committee.
