John Marvin.
HOUSTON, Texas— Texas State Optical (TSO) will adopt a new management structure effective Jan. 1, 2014, that provides president John Marvin the opportunity to start his own consulting and marketing management business while continuing to work with the TSO Network of professional optometrists. President of TSO since 1994, Marvin will continue in that position until the end of this year. Changes to the management structure in 2014 are still being determined by the board of TSO, chairman Benny Pena, OD, told VMail.

“John has contributed a lot to the organization since taking over as president, and we are pleased for him to be involved and continue to work on behalf of members in making sure the TSO brand remains strong and relevant to our patients, our communities and optometrists who join our network,” said TSO chairman Benny Pena, OD.

“I am very pleased to continue working with the Doctors of Texas State Optical in helping to manage and grow the value of the TSO brand and the professional optometry network,” said Marvin.

TSO was founded in 1936 in Beaumont, Texas. Today it operates as a member-owned cooperative with over 120 locations in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. In 2011, it became the 10th largest retail eyewear organization in the U.S. and currently holds that position for 2012, according to Vision Monday’s Top 50 U.S. Optical Retailers.
