BALTIMORE—Spectera Vision announced that its prescription laboratory, located here, has earned ISO 9001:2008 certification for its Quality Management System (QMS).

The certification validates that the Spectera Vision Laboratory consistently provides products that meet customer and regulatory requirements through the company’s Quality Management System, which covers all applicable policies, procedures and processes. The recognition follows a successful audit of Spectera’s management systems, laboratory and quality controls by Qualitivity Inc., a provider of conformity assessments and internationally accredited certifications for management systems.

“This certification highlights the quality and overall performance Spectera offers consumers and health care providers nationwide,” said Gregory Hibbard, senior vice president of Spectera. “By investing in our people, equipment, products and technology—including newly renovated climate and humidity controls that enhance the quality of our lenses—we are enhancing the products and services we offer to health care providers and consumers.”

Spectera Vision Laboratory is a UnitedHealthcare company and one of the largest independent optical laboratories in North America.
