NASHVILLE, Tenn.—SouthEast Eye Specialists, a leading provider of medical and surgical eyecare, announced earlier this week that Complete Eye Care, a premier eyecare practice with locations in Soddy-Daisy and Dayton, Tenn., will join the SouthEast Eye Specialists management organization. Private equity investment firm Flexpoint Ford has been an investor in SouthEast Eye since 2017.“We’re committed and passionate about providing patients in Tennessee with the highest quality of care and adding leading practitioners like Dr. J.D. Bonner and Dr. Will Whitmire to our expanding medical staff is further proof of our commitment,” SouthEast Eye chief clinical officer Dr. Daryl Mann said in the announcement.

“We’re thrilled and fortunate to have both doctors and the entire team at Complete Eye Care on board. The Soddy-Daisy and Dayton locations will be seamlessly integrated into our network as we continue to build on our vision of providing quality secondary eyecare to patients in a convenient and comfortable location near where they live.”

Drs. Bonner and Whitmire will continue to provide the highest level of service to patients at both the Soddy Daisy and Dayton locations, according to the announcement.

“Our practice has always been committed to providing patients and their families with compassionate, ethical eyecare,” Dr. Bonner said. “However, as the business of health care continues to grow in complexity, I find myself being pulled away from direct patient care, spending more time on business-related items like human resources, compliance and accounting. This partnership will allow me to personally spend more time with patients, while leveraging the impressive infrastructure of SouthEast Eye Specialists to run the day-to-day business.”

SouthEast Eye Specialists, which has practice locations throughout Tennessee, is a leading specialty eyecare center in the region. As VMAIL reported, Southeast Eye was founded in 1999 and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions of the eye, including cataracts and associated advanced lens replacement, along with corneal disease, glaucoma, eye muscle disorders, eyelid abnormalities, retina disease, laser vision correction, and pediatric eyecare. SEES co-manages patients with outside optometrists, which are the principal source of patient referrals.
