SAN RAFAEL, Calif.—RestoringVision, a nonprofit, which supplies new reading glasses and sunglasses to people in need around the world, has announced the selection of Pelin Munis as its new executive director.

Munis joins RestoringVision as an accomplished professional with experience in project development and management. Munis is an applied psychologist and entrepreneur with a strong interest in business and nonprofit sectors, said Mark Sachs, president and founder of RestoringVision.

He added, “Pelin will bring leadership and growth to our program and a deep sense of commitment to our mission. She has served nonprofits at all program, fundraising, executive and leadership levels, and has a breadth of perspective and experience.”

Munis’ resume includes over 18 years of executive planning, administration, communications and marketing experience in the nonprofit sector. She holds a PhD in applied psychology from the University of Miami and an MS from the University of Pennsylvania. “I am humbled and excited to join RestoringVision, an impressive organization with an important mission. I look forward to leading and serving the organization and its community as we enter this new and exciting chapter,” Munis remarked.

Noting that sight can make the difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity, Sachs reported that RestoringVision has distributed over 2.6 million pairs of glasses, partnering with over 700 groups going to over 75 different countries since 2003.
