CHICAGO— Following a vote held on Nov. 3 at the 2012 annual board meeting, Prevent Blindness America (PBA) has announced four new members to its national board of directors. Added to the Board are Patricia L Davis, MD, Brad McCorkle, Richard P. Mills, MD and James Shyer.

Along with treating patients in private practice, Patricia L. Davis, MD, owner and CEO of Progressive Eye Care, has conducted various vision research projects, has been published in a variety of medical journals and has volunteered on several medical missions in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Peru. She also currently serves as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at Loyola University Chicago.

Brad McCorkle is the founder and head of business development, sales and marketing of Local Eye Site. McCorkle joins the board after serving more than six years on the Prevent Blindness North Carolina board of directors.

Richard P. Mills, MD returns to the board for his second term. Dr. Mills is president of Glaucoma Consultants Northwest, past president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and current chairperson of the AAO’s EyeCare America. He also serves as editor of EyeNet Magazine, and has over 140 works published in the ophthalmology field.

James Shyer is COO of Zyloware Eyewear, chairman of the board of directors for The Vision Council and past chairman of The Vision Council eyewear and accessories division. He currently works with major retailers on sales and distribution efforts.
