IRVINE, Calif.— Presbia PLC, an ophthalmic device company that has developed the Presbia Flexivue Microlens, a proprietary optical lens implant for treating presbyopia, announced that it has appointed Todd Cooper as its president and chief executive officer.

In that role, Cooper’s priorities will focus on the expansion of Presbia’s international operations, completing Presbia’s ongoing FDA pivotal trial for its microlens, and, pending FDA approval, executing the U.S. launch, a statement said.

Cooper joins Presbia from his prior role as CEO of NVision, an operator of ophthalmic surgery centers. Cooper was previously vice president and general manager of Henry Schein Medical, a division of Henry Schein, Inc. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of global sales and marketing of Discus Holdings, Inc., now a Philips Healthcare company. Cooper’s background also includes roles at Discus, IMG Holdings, The Franklin Mint and Canadian Tire Corp.
