SALT LAKE CITY— OneSight and Glasses.com, both now affiliated with Luxottica Group (NYSE:LUX) have launched a new partnership.

The relationship between the online site, Glasses.com, which was acquired by Luxottica earlier this year, and One Sight, the global vision care nonprofit organization sponsored by Luxottica, was kicked off as the two partnered this week to provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to students on board the OneSight Vision Van, EyeLeen, which was parked at two schools here last week.

The clinic administered free eye exams and eyewear to more than 100 students in the Salt Lake City School District. Students receiving Vision Van services were pre-screened by school nurses and community partners in advance of the clinic to determine their eligibility for comprehensive eye exams and vision services provided by local optometrists, lab technicians and teams from surrounding LensCrafters, EyeMed, Glassses.com, Oakley, Sunglass Hut and Target Optical locations. A majority of prescriptions were manufactured on-site in coordination with the Glasses.com Salt Lake City headquarters.

"We've been committed to giving back in our own backyard since starting our business here in Draper," said John Graham, senior vice president and general manager, Glasses.com. "Glasses.com believes everyone should have access to high-quality vision care and glasses they love. We're proud to support OneSight's Vision Van Clinic in Salt Lake City as part of our commitment to support OneSight programming in underserved communities across the U.S. and worldwide."

OneSight has further plans for its 2014 Vision Van program, aiming to serve students across a variety of states including California, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Utah and Wisconsin. "Children who see better, learn better and OneSight provides quality eye exams and glasses to those who need it most," said Lukas Ruecker, president of EyeMed Vision Care, presenting sponsor of OneSight's 2014 Vision Van program.
