NEW YORK—Continuing its expansion in the luxury optical sector, Luxury Optical Holdings (LOH) has acquired Opticians 3, a single-unit luxury optical store in The Mall at Chestnut Hill, a premier shopping center in a suburb of Boston.

Operating in Chestnut Hill for more than 30 years, the 1,300-square-foot store will retain the name Opticians 3. The owner, Felix Balder, and his entire staff have joined LOH. “We are quite impressed with the employees,” Glenn Reisch, LOH’s president, told VMail. “We will enhance the product offerings and help the store maximize to its highest potential.” In addition to carrying luxury eyewear lines such as Cartier, Chrome Hearts, Chanel, Lafont, Mykita, Anne et Valentin and Teo, Opticians 3 will also begin carrying LOH’s own Morgenthal Frederics brand.

Finalized on Wed. Dec. 4, this deal follows Luxury Optical Holdings acquisition in September of Leonard Opticians Ltd., as reported by VMail Sept. 20, 2013. With the closing of LOH’s LaJolla location last month, it’s total number of stores remains at 49.

“Our business strategy is to aggressively pursue acquisitions, looking for luxury opportunities in the marketplace,” Reisch told VMail. “This store fit right into our sweet spot in that area, a luxury optical store already doing good business. It will be a nice addition to our portfolio.” Luxury Optical Holdings ranked as the 20th largest optical retailer in the country in Vision Monday’s 2013 Top 50 U.S. Optical Retailers.
