Latest News Energeyes Second Annual National Meeting Adds Booths and Courses, Opens Registration By Staff Friday, October 17, 2014 12:27 AM Mark Uhler, OD. CHICAGO— Registration has opened for next year’s second annual Energeyes National Meeting, to be held May 1-3, 2015, at the Indian Lakes Resort here. While some innovations implemented at the nascent organization’s inaugural 2014 meeting will be continued in 2015, such as distributing vendor business cards to all attendees, the “no booths allowed” approach that was replaced with a “speed meeting” format in 2014 will continue next year. Vendor booth space will also be available in 2015. “Our ‘speed meeting’ format was a big success, but we will be supplementing that with vendor booth space as well in 2015,” said Mark Uhler, OD, president of the Energeyes Association of Corporate-Affiliated Optometrists. “We are being very responsive to a number of requests that were made by both vendors and attendees in our 2014 meeting survey.” Most of the national speakers from the 2014 meeting are returning along with a number of new presenters. “Based on our feedback from last year’s meeting, we will be increasing the number of COPE-approved courses available by starting earlier and ending later in the day,” said Michael Porat, Energeyes executive director and organizer of the event. During the event, Energeyes will also announce and award the 2015 President’s Council Award, recognizing those who have made significant contributions to the field of optometry. The 2014 President’s Council Award recognized Larry Alexander, OD. The central U.S. location was selected to accommodate more members. “We are anticipating members to attend from coast to coast,” said Jonathan Noble, OD, Energeyes board member and national meeting committee member. “We currently have 400 members and expect that the Chicago location will be more accessible to a greater number.” The event’s “We are Family” theme was selected to support the idea of working and learning together, and Energeyes encourages attendees to bring their partners, loved ones, family members and children. Global sponsor, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care will be joined by other sponsors to be announced. “J&J has been consistent and unwavering in their support of the Energeyes Association and our members, and we look forward to their comprehensive participation in this year’s program,” said Eric Botts, OD, chair of the national meeting committee. Founded in September 2013, the Energeyes Association is a 501(c) 6, not-for-profit corporation serving the networking, support and educational needs of optometrists practicing in corporate or retail settings across the U.S.
