LOS ANGELES—The Doheny Eye Institute has named SriniVas (Vas) Sadda, MD, president and chief scientific officer (CSO). The nonprofit vision research and education institution is dedicated to furthering the conservation, improvement and restoration of human eyesight since 1947. Dr. Sadda, who joined Doheny Eye Institute in 2002, was selected following an extensive review process that included hundreds of leading ophthalmologists and vision scientists from around the country.

“When we embarked on the task of choosing a new president and CSO, our goal was to keep Doheny on the path of global leadership in basic and clinical vision research and advanced patient care," said Ed Landry, chairman of the Doheny board. "We are thrilled that Dr. Sadda has agreed to serve in this vitally important role for Doheny and are confident that he will continue to make unprecedented strides to conserve, improve, and restore human eyesight."

"I am honored to have been selected by the esteemed members of the executive committee of the board for this position," said Dr. Sadda. "I look forward to leading Doheny's tradition of excellence to new heights as we continue to expand our reach in the communities we serve and around the world."

Dr. Sadda will work alongside Marissa Goldberg, Doheny's executive director, and the Doheny board to develop Doheny's vision and strategic direction. Dr. Sadda and Mrs. Goldberg will lead Doheny Eye Institute as it embarks on a new 99-year affiliation agreement enacted December 2013 with the UCLA Stein Eye Institute
