ROCKVILLE, Md.—The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry have announced the recipients of the 2015 Special Recognition Awards.

There were six awards presented which included the Lifetime Achievement Award, Rising Star Award which was sponsored by Oculus, Dr. Jack Bennett Innovation in Optometric Education Award, Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award, Dr. Lester Janoff Award for Writing Excellence and the Student Award in Clinical Ethics which was sponsored by International Vision Expo.

Winners of the 2015 ASCO Awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Alfred A. Rosenbloom (posthumously), former dean and president of the Illinois College of Optometry; The Rising Star Award, Todd Peabody, OD, faculty member at the Indiana University; and the Dr. Jack Bennett Innovation in Optometric Education Award, Mark Colip, OD.

The Ophthalmic Industry Leadership Award was presented to Dave Sattler, former director of professional relations at Alcon; The Dr. Lester Janoff Award for Writing Excellence went to Denise Goodwin, OD, FAAO and John R. Hayesn PhD who both work for the Pacific University College of Optometry as well as Len Koh, OD, Phd of Midwestern University, Arizona College of Optometry; and the Student Award in Clinical Ethics went to optometry student, Molly Spatcher of New England College of Optometry class of 2015.
