Optometry Giving Sight is the global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error —the need for an eye examination and glasses. ABB CONCISE has endorsed OGS as its International Charity of Choice and has been recognized by the organization as a Gold National In Kind Sponsor. ABB CONCISE and its practice development division Primary Eyecare Network (PEN) also support OGS through its "Say Yes Today" campaign. "We are actively engaging doctors in the ´Say Yes Today’ campaign, which asks for a monthly contribution of $15 to Optometry Giving Sight," said Debbie Oseguera, PEN’s director of operations in charge of charitable fundraising. So far in 2012, PEN doctors have donated over $10,000 to Optometry Giving Sight. ABB CONCISE and PEN also include an Optometry Giving Sight donation button on their website to encourage ECPs to donate. Angel Alvarez, CEO of ABB CONCISE stated, "I'm extremely proud of the employees of ABB CONCISE. We challenged them earlier in the year to surpass their 2011 fundraising for their local and national charities and they have met that challenge." In addition, ABB CONCISE employees were able to raise over $11,000 for the Red Cross Disaster Relief for Hurricane Sandy victims. "We were very fortunate that our employees in the northeast weathered the storm unharmed. The overwhelming response to donate to the disaster relief is testament to ABB CONCISE’s employees’ generosity and willingness to help," exclaims Alvarez. ABB CONCISE is the largest U.S. contact lens distributor, serving over 17,000 eyecare practitioners throughout the U.S. and accounting for over 45 percent of eyecare practitioners’ soft lens purchases through distributors.
