Medical Vision Technology, Ophthalmology Group is comprised of 10 Ophthalmology M.D.’s at three clinic locations in the Sacramento region. All of our clinics provide you a one stop care location. After your scheduled exam you can walk into our onsite optical store and choose from an extensive selection of frames to complete your vision care.
Medical Vision Technology, (MVT) Ophthalmology Group physicians are specialists and are dedicated to providing complete vision care including cataract, cornea, glaucoma and vision correction in a compassionate, personal and efficient manner.
Currently MVT is recruiting for a COA to assists the ophthalmologist with the greeting and screening of patients. This individual helps with the diagnosis and treatment oriented procedures by assisting with tasks that do not require the ophthalmologist's specific expertise. A skilled ophthalmic assistant enables the M.D. to spend quality time with the patient, completing only those diagnostic and treatment functions that the ophthalmologist must personally perform. This also allows the M.D. to see and treat more patients. May be asked to perform other duties during the course of assisting the patient i.e. phones, chart prep, posting, surgery scheduling.
Prior ophthalmology experience required.
COA or COT Certification required
Greeting patients: adults, children, physically handicapped and visually impaired
Medication, spectacle and contact lens renewal requests
Scheduling clinical appointments and special tests
Scheduling in-office and outpatient surgeries: requires knowledge of contracted insurance groups and authorizations, hospital requirements, patient’s information and instructions, and maintaining and coordinating schedules with physician
Obtaining referral to specialist.
Ability to work with a variety of personalities with the staff and patients
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and in a timely manner
Ensures that exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up each day
Measuring visual acuity
Visual field testing: manual and automated
Basic ocular motility
Tonometry: applanation or Tono-pen
Evaluation of pupils
Basic contact lens knowledge (i.e. types of contacts-soft, gas permeable, bandage, toric. . .)
