Video Testimonials Personalize Patient Endorsements Of Your Practice

NEW YORK—In the digital world, two trends have been changing the way business is conducted in both the retail and the healthcare spaces – the rise of personal recommendations to drive business to a particular location and the advent of video and its accessibility to consumers and patients on the web and via mobile devices.

One new service is tapping both trends. Solutionreach has developed a video survey service, SR Video, which enables an eye care practice to capture patient feedback and share it online.

Get Your Skills and Expertise Endorsed on LinkedIn

By Alan Glazier, OD, FAAO

ROCKVILLE, Md.—Getting people to "recommend" you as a professional on LinkedIn has always been a powerful tool. The recommendations on the well-known professional social network enable people to "find" you for the services and products you want to be found for within the LinkedIn network. These recommendations "label" your brand in the LinkedIn network, and to give you a "boost" in what I call "Searchial Marketing."

Searchial Marketing describes how the actions you undertake in the social media world help LinkedIn and, ultimately, Google to better place you in their search for the keywords and key phrases you hope to be found for when people search for the services/products you offer in your geographic vicinity.

Insights: The Impact of Digital Devices on Patients – and Their Vision

NEW YORK—It's likely your goal that your patients find your practice, your retail boutique or optical dispensary when they go online via their laptop, tablet or smartphone. But what's the impact of the tremendous explosion in the use of digital devices on people's vision?

A special report issued this year, the 2012 Digital Eye Fatigue Report, put out by The Vision Council and VisionWatch, explores this phenomenon. VisionWatch, an on-going study of a statistically balanced sample of 110,000 U.S. residents designed to be representative of the U.S. population 18 years of age and older, used a questionnaire of 16 questions regarding the use of digital media devices and any related effects on vision from their extended use, to its May 2012 survey and it was based on a total sample of 9,459 American adults. The VisionWatch database was used to generate a series of detailed cross tabulations to highlight demographic differences between segments of the U.S. population.
