NEW YORK—Did you know that there is a National Small Business Week each year? This year, National Small Business Week, which is put on by the U.S. Small Business Administration, takes place from May 5 through May 11. Backed by an expanded group of sponsors including Score, Visa, Chase, Google, Constant Contact and Square, a range of new tools includes traditional support and several e-mail and social ones. Throughout the week, various events are available for small business owners, including virtual conferences, hackathons, award ceremonies, Twitter chats and more. The U.S. Small Business Administration reports that over half of Americans work for or own a small business, meaning this week’s events will affect almost the entire country.

For more than 50 years, the U.S government has recognized the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories.

Independents in eyecare and eyewear businesses can take advantage of this Small Business Week by visiting the website to learn more about what resources are available to them this week and beyond.
