ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Retailers and ECPs can help advance awareness among patients about UV light via the newest report from The Vision Council, which has just released its latest UV-protection report, Spare Your Sight: Using Shades for Protection and Style.

The report found that three-quarters of Americans are concerned about potential eye problems from the sun’s UV rays, yet only 31 percent protect their eyes with sunglasses or other UV-protective eyewear every time they go outside.

Additionally, The Vision Council has unveiled a second version of the report specifically for members of the optical community which focuses on the stats found from VisionWatch data. The release of the reports coincide with May as UV Awareness Month, as consumers prepare for the start of summer.
